Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has donated $1m (£786,000) to an inauguration fund for President-elect Donald Trump.

The tech giant’s boss, Mark Zuckerberg, dined with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in November, having sought to repair his and his firm’s relationship with Trump following the election.

Trump has previously been highly critical of Mr Zuckerberg and Facebook - calling the platform “anti-Trump” in 2017.

Meta is not believed to have made similar donations to President Joe Biden’s inaugural fund in 2020 or to Trump’s previous inaugural fund in 2016.

The company confirmed its million-dollar donation to the inaugural fund to several outlets on Wednesday.

They are all realizing that this is the new reality. And the American people wanted it. So there is no good reason for them to resist.

Fuckin’ Zuck. Seriously. Bezos too. Musk. They’re all bootlicking, ass-kissing, apple-polishing, brown-nosed toadies.

And they get away with crimes on an hourly basis.

I can’t wait for people to complain about this on Facebook and Instagram, right before doomscrolling for hours.

    I hope I’m wrong.

So much for “free speech” and all that “freedom” these guys are always going off about. The guy did his part of being hands off and letting Trump’s disinformation spread far and wide on Facebook in the run up to 2016, but now feels like he has to pay a million dollars to keep his business in OK standing.

This is just the beginning of Trump’s fascist regime, with open bribes and bullying corporations to do the States bidding. And Elon obviously saw it as both an opportunity to make Trump swap from EV bad to non-Tesla bad, and Elon gets a government job firing people that would be roadblocks for his corporations.

This is going to be an insane timeline, and hoping anyone with any power doesn’t just hand the government over to this mad man and end the Republic without a fight.

Amazon is donating $1 million to Trump’s inauguration

Bezos and the company decided on the contribution earlier this week, and communicated it to Trump’s team, according to some of the people. “Bezos is donating through Amazon,” according to a person close to Bezos. Amazon also will stream the inauguration through its Prime Video business, a separate, in-kind donation valued at $1 million, another of the people said.

Seems to be sort of a flat rate.
