They retconned her as not Columbo’s wife and changed the name of the series to Kate Columbo for season 2, because even they realized that Columbo’s wife wouldn’t be a hot novelist.
Didn’t peg Columbo as the “cradle robber” type. Maybe he just prefers a submissive relationship where he’s constantly under threat of being Tuvixed. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Maybe Columbo is much younger but lived a harsh life.
