This makes me want to see a whole computer inside a vhs case, like soc/r-pi or something. Then it can stream video wirelessly!

Nah have it be a working tape, so you put your smart VHS into the tape player and up pops android tv or something like that.

Kind of like the old cassette tapes with the 3.5 mil connecter. Used to use one to play my CD player through the cassette player in my car. Probably pretty useless but I wonder if that could be pulled off somehow.

Yeah like one of those things!

I can’t see why it wouldn’t work, it works for audio so I could see it being able to do video as well.

Yeah it’s useless but it’s a cool little talking point.

Me: let’s watch something on Netflix.

*grabs VHS tape and puts it into the VCR player. *

It’s lamenting that it is too old to fit in that little disk slot. It’s a sad picture.😥

I’m imagining that the flap is behind the LCD, and now I’m wondering if anyone ever made a VHS deck like that

Don’t think so, can’t recall seeing one. The flap is mechanically lifted when a tape is ejected, and I suppose a flap with an integrated display would be significantly heavier, increasing wear and tear on the mechanism, and then there’s potentially the issue of the cassettes scratching the display to shit.
