    I mean this level of zoning in a rural area with rail service is literally alien to the American mind, so I get it. I bet it does feel like a different time because we killed the start of this in America 100 years ago.

      I think people see the resemblance to anime when they visit Japan is cause it’s super clean in most Metropolitan areas and the rest of the world just isn’t used to that.

      And also, it’s common for Manga and anime artists to visit actual areas in japan and take pictures to use as references in their works. So a lot of popular media is literally using irl areas, I visited a bunch of the sailor moon areas including the shrine when I went to visit.

      I checked @akinecoco987 and their stuff seemed to be in Japanese. Are you sure they’re an American?

    Someone should make AR/VR experiences that let you walk around / observe in an anime or show you want to experience with immersion. I’d hate to do that to a real life place in person because tourists ruin everything and everywhere, so I’d rather it’s something you can do at home
