"Unlike the 2020 election, when Republicans opposed pandemic-related changes such as expanded mail-in voting, both parties are encouraging new rules to help people vote.

One possible reason for the GOP’s change of heart: In North Carolina — a swing state that’s particularly key to former President Trump’s pathway to victory — 8% of eligible voters are in counties impacted by Hurricane Helene. Those include many voters in rural, Republican-leaning areas."

I mean, good. People should have every possible opportunity to vote. But it really says a lot about them, that they only give a shit when it might impact the GOP.

A little off-topic, but does anyone else feel like the way Axios writes their articles is condescending? It’s all bullet points and summaries, with very little substance. It comes across as patronizing to me. I get that they’re trying to make things as simple as possible, but I think they go way too far and end up disrespecting their readers’ intelligence.
