In the court filing, Castro argues Trump violated the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which bars anyone who engaged in or provided aid or comfort to an insurrection from holding office.

Is there any possibility that this lawsuit is an attempt to get a favourable (to the republican party) ruling (that Trump can stand) by presenting a poor case and therefore blocking a properly prepared and presented case on the basis that it has already been ruled on?

I see what you’re saying but he’s only running in the swing states so it messes with Trump’s chances. He’s definitely an anti-trumper, imo.

They’re not smart enough to do that.

My guess is that they’ll try to get it tossed on the grounds that he’s also running for President and this is a conflict of interest.

I think a lawsuit like this would have a much better chance of success if it were being filed by a secretary of state, an AG, or some other offical that doesn’t have direct skin in the game.

Doesn’t that show he’s actively being damaged by Trump’s running tho and this has standing? The recourse he’s asking for is directly in line with that reasoning.
