When the President of the United States says this shit, is it okay now to say - as a Canadian - that I wonder why more Americans aren’t trying to kill him yet? Like, what the hell is going on? HE IS GOING TO GET US ALL KILLED.
My pet conspiracy theory is that there’s already been multiple attempts since Butler, but they aren’t being publicized because they don’t want to encourage others.
I think it’s just because people still have hope that the systems will work as usual and right the ship. I think a lot of people are waiting to see what happens with this administration’s reaction to court orders, etc. But I think that we’re going to start spawning radicalized reactionaries soon.
Do you expect the average American to just be able to stroll up to him with a gun and shoot him? We’re literally a police state. He’s got secret service watching him. It’s complicated, and if somebody was successful they would be throwing away their own entire life guaranteed.
For what? Another will take his place. There’s no shortage of people pushing for project 2025 and supporting his political policies. It’s not just trump.
Then you do the same to the next one. And the one after that. And the one after that. Until someone gets up there and decides he/she doesn’t want it happening to them too.
The point isn’t that there’s “going to be another”…that’s just defeatism. The point is to make them realise that they will NEVER be safe. That there are people willing to do anything to see them strung up by their ankles in a town square.
It’s not defeatism, at all, it’s the recognition of an ineffective method of resolving things. Real life isn’t a movie where things just work out when you do stupid shit.
No despot in history has ever fallen without violence. Hell, your own, country was built on that fact.
At exactly what point did America go from “the tree of liberty must be refreshed with the blood of patriots” to “this is an ineffective means of resolving things.”?
Those two attempts failed. Now he isn’t on the campaign trail and he has the world’s best security. The only people that can take him down are an army at this point.
