Not that I don’t believe you, but I’d like to read up about it. I basically never reboot my phone, never had issues.
I remember seeing a lot of reporting referring to an NSA best practices guide recommending to reboot your phone weekly. They do not really go into much detail though. Either way, it definitely does not hurt to reboot.

I would also like to know! This seems like advice from the early days of Android when the software was way more buggy, everything seems very stable nowadays and I rarely find myself needing to reboot because something is in a bad state.
