The move to the fediverse should be permanent. We should try to move the most important stuff here

I think the better move would be to unprivate r/Piracy after 48 hours, but restrict posting and leave a link to this community. I think everyone would agree we’re no r/aww or r/funny.

The Piracy subreddit has always been a thorn in Reddit’s side, and it’s a miracle we were able to exist in the first place. It’s a very visible space on a highly public website, it’s not “underground” like most of the piracy community is. It helps people new to piracy understand the do’s and don’t’s, and the wiki helps people have a quick reference on what sites they can use without getting a virus.

I do think the piracy sub will be one of the next targets, it’s only a matter of time. If the sub further restricted itself in anticipation and sent people here it would be able to sustain itself a lot longer.

This is a particular topic that people will be more open to seek out and put slightly more effort for.

The NewYuzuPiracy subreddit got the banhammer today, so it definitely could be coming.

Also, this is my first comment on Lemmy!

Or the opposite. It would give admins a reason to ban the sub for spam / advertising of competition.

Stash it all somewhere or migrate it here if possible, then torch the place. Users will follow the content, if the /r/piracy userbase all move somewhere else, then that platform will grow and we won’t have to put up with reddit anymore.

It’s a good point, I hope alot of subreddits continue indefinitely like some have said they will. Although reddit is unlikely to change their decision, I’m happy with the result. If Lemmy stays even a fraction as active as it is now after the blackouts then Lemmy will be the better choice for me personally.

I didn’t use Lemmy before because of how small it felt, but after the blackout every community is bursting with life and I can see Lemmy completely replacing reddit for me.

Hopefully enough refugees feel the same :)

Refugee here, Lemmy feels like Reddit from 16 years ago. This is so much better than whatever Reddit has become over the last several years. Fuck Reddit.

I’m here for it. Used reddit since digg, saw the tide turning and I believe the same thing is happening again. As subreddits become public again with no change from spez, I have zero interest to return to Reddit. I’m here for the fediverse.

I’m right there with you, Lemmy feels like the next logical evolution of Reddit, but I can’t help feeling like Spez is just going to wait us out since we’ve handed them a timeline. If this was a union strike, which it’s feeling more and more like, we’d be waiting until the admins agree to sit down with the mods to discuss an agreement. And I recognize that not everyone understands the gravity of the changes but this is our best change to effect change since the moderators seem to all be on the same page.

if posible the whole of reddit should just limit/disable posting if possible
and un privet the subreddits for historic reasons .

48 hours is just not gonna make a significant effect on reddits wallet

the strike should be atleast a few months .at this rate the protest will do fuck all

i love lurking on reddit .but while on lemmy its not so hard to forget reddit

Going un-private will allow people to discuss what kbin/lemmy instances they had migrated to during the strike

I think it should be made public. As much useful info as possible should be migrated and then privatized on July 1st with a link to lemmy.

Let all the NSFW and borderline crazy / illegal subs stay and go public. Make reddit an alt-right dumpsterfire & porn kink community.

It was a limited scale action to show the impact possible. If reddit indeed won’t move it could become indefinitely. /r/ffxiv already wanted to move it to a week or indefinitely.

Kinda boring to unprivate the subreddit, if it stayed private longer maybe more people would switch to Lemmy - personally I’m staying with Lemmy it’s active enough to replace reddit for me; and better in every way. Social media freedom ❤️❤️
