back in the days before I realized that meant I could’ve also just bought 1 for $1.
But I bought 10. I’ve kept excellent track of them through the years, moving residences 5+ times and traveling across the country, and I still have two lip balms left from that senile purchase decision.
I swear I remember some rumor from back in the day that Carmex was somehow addictive: You’d put in on your lips to keep them from drying up, but Carmex had fiber glass in it, which would make tiny cuts on your lips, which made them dry and crack even more, so you then you had to use more Carmex, rinse and repeat.
Thanks for unlocking that memory for me. The 80s were a weird time.
I also heard that rumor in the 2000s
Depending on the store, they might have had a minimum and not just dark pattern type advertising.
Please explain what “dark pattern advertising” is

This would fall under misdirection, where they imply a minimum number required for the discount such as 10 for $10 by using the same wording as when there is a minimum.
Was it at least good lip balm?
Yes it’s good! Carmex is great. I’m just so impressed that I have kept track of these all these years. I haven’t lost a single one!
I buy dozens of chapsticks every few years. Keep them in an old jewelry box until I open them. I’d love to be the sort of person who can take multiple years and moves to go through 10. Genuinely jealous.
I use them up quite quickly, as I use it almost daily year round. Idk what’s wrong with my lip skin but even in humid summers my lips crack and peel if I don’t use it.
There’s been some buzz about lip balm being addictive, the more you use it, the more you need it. I use it not very often. But when I need it, I really need it.
DOZENS of chapsticks?? Like more than 24??
