A woman is mulling the next step to take after a company mistakenly demolished a home she owned in Atlanta in the US.

Susan Hodgson said in an interview with the Associated Press that she found a pile of rubble in place of what used to be her long-time family property when she returned from holiday last month.

When a person in charge at the site checked his permit, Ms Hodgson said he admitted he was at the wrong address.

The headline suggests that she went on holiday and the house was demolished whilst she was away, but it then transpires that not only does she not live there, but the house is actually boarded up. Perhaps not too surprising they made a mistake if it was effectively abandoned, although still sucks that they have failed to do anything to make it right.

Boarded up? Well, that changes if from darkly funny to just plain stupid.

To the soon-to-be-unemployed site supervisor, I’d like to say cheer up! Now you get to say you destroyed a house by accident! How many people can make that claim?

Maybe they should send her an invoice for safely demolishing her derelict abandoned building. Probably raised the value of the land it was on. She can sell the land to someone who will build apartments to house people, pay the invoice and keep the profit. Winwinwin.
