Instead Democrats INCLUDING CLINTON said “gee, conservatism really does need some extra free speech rights!..” Yes, that was their reasoning: defend “free speech” in the “marketplace of ideas” while making sure that any opposing voices would be eliminated. this goes back to the democrats not being as bad as the repbulicans. They just have not manipulated the rules in their favor the way the republicans have and retain historical norms longer.
