Refugee from another, less-friendly instance. Please forgive the youth of my account— I’ve actually been around here for a while. Still, glad to be here!

I happen to know a lot about schlock. I really don’t think this sounds at all like it.
I would encourage you, instead, to check it out for yourself.

Don’t be a lemon
Meh…
They’re trying to be even-handed, but silly insults don’t really work on Walz. He’s just too… wholesome and folksy. I’m sure there are ways to poke fun at him, but not the edgy “Onion” way, which is usually sharp satire. It’s hard to effectively satirize a person who is kinda of an unexpectedly lovable teddy bear that also happens to know how to effectively govern.
I prefer a simple signal, too. Maybe the whole “play a song when the laundry is done” is a cultural thing.
It’s a common misconception. The whole habit consist of several constituent parts, each with their own (very silly) names.
AIDS is not a simple disease, but a constellation of effects and ills. It can provoke cancer (so can the meds), and it can also provoke early-onset Alzheimer’s.
It’s much worse than either.
And it’s extremely disturbing as to how far the Overton window has shifted to the right when compared to that crazy.
Yes, capitalism is horrible bullshit that we all must suffer through (for now). No argument there.
I mentioned this elsewhere, but I believe that within the next decade, car companies are just going to have to deal with the fact that a lot of very intelligent (and independent) software developers are able to work around their proprietary crap. Currently, they’re fighting it rather a lot, but that fight can only be sustained for so long before it becomes unprofitable for the corporations.
Having witnessed so many friends and a boyfriend die from this disease over the past few decades, I must say— you know nothing of how horrific this disease is. To live through or to witness.
The only reason it is, now, a survivable disease is nothing short of medical miracles— but it is particularly offensive to downplay - or even to equivocate - on its horrors. Keep in mind that the vast majority of those with HIV/AIDS cannot afford effective treatment to mitigate the disease, and, thusly, will die horribly from it.
We should always check our privilege. Not everyone in this world will ever get modern medical care. It’s something we all must work towards.
Any fires are the product of a technical malfunction, and those are very easy to either mitigate, and, especially, engineer beyond.
Gasoline will always be flammable, and using it as a fuel source will always present certain concerns and risks. Measured against battery technology, however, it’s kind of a no-brainer as to which is much more safe.
Even Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cells (unquestionably more explosive than any battery or gasoline powered vehicle) are now technically safer than gasoline powered vehicles, just because of their amazing containment pods for the hydrogen fuel. Again, this sort of thing is just an engineering problem, not a problem with developing new resources and/or new techniques of harnessing their energy output.
Although skeptical, and especially disliking Elon musk, this is merely speculative. It could take five years, or it could take 25 years. We just don’t know yet. However, unlike fusion, we’ve never achieved FSD yet. But, like fusion, I’m sure we will.
Just not yet, and, I hope, not a product of an Elon Musk company.
True, but also a concise description of hurdles yet to come.
I appreciate the link!
I forgot bout this achievement in 2022!
Spider-Man rendered as a forever chemical? How fun!
With great effort, I imagine. A pumpkin is also a squash.
Pumpkins are cool
That is the colloquial definition. The scientific definition of a berry differs a bit.
