No, it’s totally valid to say “Limit the AI power wastage” because it’s an insanely huge waste of energy. These motherfuckers are building nuclear reactors and running illegal methane gas turbine generators to power their bullshit-generating systems because they can’t get enough juice from the existing power grid.

I’m going to run my AC all day (thermostat set to 75-76° F) no matter what the AI companies do anyway. Because it’s hitting 90° F at 9:00am already by the end of June. July will be hotter as usual.
I’m not using AI for anything and I don’t need it for anything. They can go ahead and turn off their bullshit for all I care. I may even buy a second AC unit for a backup in case my main one fails.
RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•We need to build more of the family sized apartments.English3·11 days agoYep 2 should be enough and they could make those bedrooms larger instead, or make something more useful larger. My house is 2-3 times larger than that floor space and 2 bathrooms is enough for our family.

That’s what I assumed also. They basically look the same in general
RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•In old movies, it's only creepy rich people who have cameras in their house watching everything. Now everybody's creepy.English18·24 days agoCameras in the house is still creepy. Even baby monitors have been getting hacked for many years already.
Here’s a good example why not to do that: friend was in the process of divorce from a douche spouse, who was technically skilled and had installed security cameras inside and outside the house. They all left them in place knowingly, and the douche spouse who had to move out kept watching the family inside the house and bringing up things that happened in private. I was like “WTF unplug that shit”
RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•The "standard" car charger is usually overkill—but your electrician might not know that [32:26]English16·25 days agoYep the difference for our setup was going from 12-18 hour full charge times (Level 1) to about 6 hours on Level 2. L1 charger could only put out 12 amps at 120v, and while the L2 charger can do up to 50A of 240v power, our vehicle can only use about a third of that capacity at max draw.
So as the video’s topic covers, we didn’t need a 50A circuit for Level 2 charging on our limited vehicle. But I put in a full 50A circuit anyway so now I can eventually upgrade our other car to electric or PHEV and be ready for whatever those need.
Why don’t the just build a new liquor store in the middle of the new houses? That solves it all

Secondly, you may be failing to grasp the scope of the American landscape and how difficult it would be to monitor forests, lakes, and rivers.
Here is a video of how that process works as filmed by Portlandians:

I like to keep several GB of music on my phone from my MP3 library, and I have no streaming music accounts. I pay once for my music at most.

If you can find the right stream URL, VLC can save whatever that is to MP4 or your format of choice. Save your favorite shows / streams / podcasts to disk and keep them safe in your own personal media server!

RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•ICE agents chase after farmworkers as they flee fields during latest raid in Ventura CountyEnglish121·30 days agoThey can’t really do that in America, there’s too much land and room and food. They could temporarily trap a population within a city by surrounding it with some barricades and stuff but that won’t last long. The population size of the US has a massive ratio of more citizens than law enforcement and military. They can’t take us all.
For someone like me, if the food supplies were all cut off I could just live off of the land by hunting, fishing, and farming.

Even though most of the comments here point out the obvious that phones are a risk, this kind of journalism is still important for spreading awareness and documentation of illegal surveillance for the record
