Yep it’ll be the classic thing of the company saves money, doesn’t pass it on to the consumers, and now reports higher profits to make it’s stock price go up.

Personally I think it’s fine to do that. Better that you get that money then either some right wing person who is gonna use it to promote their horrible causes more or some right wing company gets it and does that on a bigger scale.
I think the main worry is an escalation not to a full blown WWIII style full nuclear exchange but to using tactical nukes against Ukraine. We haven’t really seen that used yet and if Putin thinks he might lose this I don’t know if he would decide to do it. And once that precedent is set that you can do that there’s no putting that back away. This isn’t to say that giving them this permission is bad or shouldn’t be done, this is just a risk to consider and would be a risk with any strategy that allows Ukraine to attempt to win the conflict.
You can still get that by just playing very small indie games. There’s tons of small games out there being made by just a handful or even one person that have these kinds of little fun things scattered throughout them. They are harder to find by their nature but that culture is still very much alive in the indie space.
We don’t have enough labor organization in the US for a general strike to really happen. Especially considering a large amount of union members vote Republican and for Trump as well.
I think the difference now a days compared to back then is rich and powerful people (plantation owners) wanted the war to maintain their wealth and power. Right now I don’t think really any powerful companies actually want a civil war. They’re happy to fan the flames and play both sides to get the attention off of them and the insane power and wealth they have but I think they all know a civil war would be bad for profits. So because of this I doubt it would ever fully become a civil war, closest it would be is violent protests or things like January 6th which would be put down by the states or federal government before it got far enough to become something like a civil war.
I don’t mind decimals at all, it’s more that I don’t trust companies to actually deal with supporting decimals when making the switch. Plus the last time I discussed this on Lemmy someone was saying that decimals aren’t even universally used and it might depend on what you get whether you get that precision or not. Either way like the main point of my post was anyways these are minor arguments and at the end of the day there isn’t really a reason to use Celsius vs Fahrenheit.
Yeah like the metric system has good arguments for why it’s measurements and weights are better, mainly conversion being easier, but for temperature there really isn’t an argument. I would make an argument for Fahrenheit as it gives more precision without having to use decimals which at least in America isn’t a thing for temperature. But those are pretty minor things and I do tend to agree it comes down to what you grew up with.
Definitely agree that it would be way worse, that’s why I said it would be the next level of what Reagan was doing. It’s down the same track but taking it to an even worse level.
Also from Oregon and unless I’m mistaken we’re one of the better states at atleast trying to be more renewable about it. I thought I remember learning as a kid we had laws about having to plant multiple trees for every tree you chop down. Not sure if those are still around or how strong they are but I feel like we at least treat the environment better than a lot of other states.
I feel like this is just the next level of what Reagan did to cripple the government. You make it so they can’t do their job effectively then use the fact that it’s not efficient anymore as the reason to get rid of it all.
It’s also not unique to Germany as well. As an American its crazy how much this just sounds like what’s going on in America with the Democrats slowly shifting to the right on things like immigration. Capitulating to the right wing framing on these issues doesn’t help you win, it just pushes more people to the right since you’re basically saying they’re right.
I think in that case it makes sense to knock but in most cases if I see a single use bathrooms with the little occupied in red or vacant in green lock indicator on it I’m just gonna assume it’s free if it’s not locked and open it. I haven’t been burned by that yet because in most situations people will lock them when using them.
Fair enough, I forgot it didn’t launch with the world Congress stuff. It has enough other new stuff and a bunch of features from Civ 5 that at least for me it made up for that being left behind at first.
Eh I don’t really count civs I guess. I was just counting features like religion and stuff like that. The civs are usually pretty cheap and they don’t really change the game that much.
I don’t think they really do that. I remember Civ 6 launching with everything 5 had as DLC in base game and the DLCs added new things 5 didn’t have.
I’m pretty sure this is just an idea they took from Humankind, another Civilization like game that came out a bit ago.
Is there really any period in American history that isn’t at least a bit anti-union?
They’re not voting for Trump, they’re just not gonna vote because pretty understandably they don’t want to vote for someone who is gonna use the taxes they pay to kill people they know and care about.
I mean I also doubt the director was behind all the bad decisions that led to this. Cause this game started development back when Overwatch 1 came out. It wasn’t an old formula then, it just took too long to come out. That could be the directors fault but from what I’ve heard it was more decisions from corporate to chase new fads like live service and more that ended up delaying it so long and causing it to become dated.
