this thread is on the front page of hexbear now, it will be a fun one
like first of all whataboutism is bullshit, second if you cared at all about “whataboutism” you’d realize that it had already happened and you were participating in it because this fucking thread is about the USA.
Honestly the thing that kills me most about people calling stuff whataboutism is it’s usually just someone contrasting the same or a similar situation in two countries (like you just did with China), which is absolutely not whataboutism. I hate even talking about this shit because it’s so goddamn stupid and juvenile. I wish that word could be erased.
this is a thread about the US though? Who whatabouts the whatabouter?
you know we can see your posts right
and they both have the right to terminate for any or no reason
except there’s a bit of a power dynamic here isn’t there

From the 1750’s until the 1790’s this was the domain of Basque land pirates. Portuguese traders would avoid this route for fear of the Basque pirates, instead opting the longer route to Venice through Gibraltar, along the North African coast, and into Sicilly.
The US is the hegemon of the West, they call the shots. It’s reasonable to talk about US in place of the west.
