krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What in your country/area is totally normal but visitors get excited for?3·5 days agoWhen we went to the USA, people believed us that we lived in little huts on mountains without power. (From Austria) They didn’t believe us that we would ride our bike to work.
Just to be clear, hardly any Austrian lives without power in their house, even if they live up on mountains. But almost all my coworkers and myself included take their bike to work. (Although we live in a city, hard to get up your little mountain hut with your bike ;) )

krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•And they even get a seizure when you take their ipads away15·5 days agoYes that’s kind of a pet peeve of mine. I understand that sleep deprived parents sometimes need to put their kids in front of their phones. But in recent years I have noticed that they just blast the sound really loud and don’t care about any other human being. I’m really shy but after almost freaking out on a train ride because of two different kids just watching something full volume I have asked parents to tone it down. They were even kind of embarrassed and nice about it. I have no idea how you can be so disconnected to your surrounding… The worst were grandparents with a 2 year old kid during a kids theater and they just let the kid watch a show with the volume up. I mean what about all the other kids who are performing and you sit in the middle with a phone just blasting full volume. They wanted to stop him and then he started throwing a tantrum. They just laughed and were like oh he’s so cute and we can’t do anything about it. Fuck that’s not cute, if you want to watch a tv show with volume, just sit outside of theater with your little brat!

Just reading that crushed me and I don’t think I would be able to survive that. Sorry for whatever happened to you. You’re a strong person for just surviving that and even more so for still trying to be a good person.
krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto Mental Health@lemmy.world•How do we accept that evil people do better in this world?English1·6 days agoSince I’ve read that: https://elan.school/ I can believe that the whole system is rigged and people in power can easily use it to take away rights. Don’t know about this specific case but there will always be systemic abuse with which the wealthy and the ones in power can suppress their victims unfortunately.
krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto Mental Health@lemmy.world•How do we accept that evil people do better in this world?English11·6 days agoI think you’ve articulated your point well and have solid advice! I think the whole thread was a rant and they didn’t want any advice though. You were trying to help out but that’s just not what they wanted/ needed to hear right now. So your viewpoints just clashed because of that.

But sometimes just dwelling in your feelings needs to be done. Whatever you do, I hope you get through the weekend and will have a better year ahead of you!
Good choice! Had one yesterday :)
It really doesn’t? We had an exchange doctor and she always complained why we had so many YouTube ads and I always wondered why she was so vocal about that. Makes sense now if she was used to no ads at all!
krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what questions do you have but don't feel you can ask trans people?2·11 days agoThanks for the reply, always wondered about that! Just the first time it clicked for me why someone just couldn’t be a male/female presenting person without going through gender affirming care. Thanks and wish you all the best!

krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto News@lemmy.world•Only 54% of U.S. adults say they drink alcohol, a record low. A new poll shows what's behind the decline.2·21 days agoSo my boyfriend was drinking about 6-8 beers per day and some schnaps. (Sometimes half a bottle to a bottle per day). For me it’s like 3 beers a day, but because of work I can’t drink everyday so I guess for me it’s not going to be that hard. Just when I have a hard day at work I’m so happy to come home to my boyfriend and beer. I think it’s not going to be a physical withdrawal for me but a mental thing I will have to fight. And also of course when partying we used to drink much more also …
krawutzikaputzi@slrpnk.netto News@lemmy.world•Only 54% of U.S. adults say they drink alcohol, a record low. A new poll shows what's behind the decline.3·21 days agoWe’re scared too. Especially my boyfriend is really scared about withdrawal symptoms. Anyway he’s also started to realize that he got a beer belly already. I know it’s not recommended but I think drinking once a week isn’t that bad. And also I don’t believe in the whole one drink again and you will drink again all the time. Hope your sleep improves soon!

In Ghana they sold water in plastic bags everywhere, so you just got a bag and drank it straight away. Same thing here I guess, not possible to carry it around.
