  • of course they asked him about multiplexers. I still don’t agree with his opinions on the matter but I’ve seen way too many people argue the point with him in issue threads which is just pointless as he’ll usually just devolve to insulting their intelligence. Guy is an asshole.

That being said even as far as tabs and panes for terminals outside of zellij or tmux there are much better options than kitty. Yes kitty has tabs and panes but they’re clearly an afterthought implementation that Kovid included just to please the masses. Wezterm does a MUCH better job overall than kitty in just about everything. Terminator is great also.

I just don’t bother with Kitty because heaven forbid you have an issue with it and post about it Kovid will make you feel like it’s YOUR fault his terminal isn’t working correctly.

  • you have to be REALLY careful when asking an LLM to summarize news otherwise it will hallucinate what it believes sounds logical and correct. you have to point it directly to the article, ensure that it reads it, and then summarize. and honestly at that point…you might as well read it yourself.

And this goes beyond just summarizing articles you NEED to provide an LLM a source for just about everything now. Even if you tell it to research online the solution to a problem many times now it’ll search for non-relevant links and utilize that for its solution because, again, to the LLM it makes the most sense when in reality it has nothing to do with your problem.

At this point it’s an absolute waste of time using any LLM because within the last few months all models have noticeably gotten worse. Claude.ai is an absolute waste of time as 8 times out of 10 all solutions are hallucinations and recently GPT5 has started “fluffing” solutions with non-relevant information or it info dumps things that have nothing to do with your original prompt.

Bazzite is like a easy newbie introduction to Linux. It’s really hard to mess up Bazzite, like really hard. In the same regard it can also be a pain to install anything outside of their ecosystem. If you run it with Distrobox it’s not a big deal but I don’t see a lot of new users going that route. If you’re just looking to browse, stream, and game than Bazzite is perfect and you don’t need anything else. Beyond that? Distrobox or use a different distro.

I tried Bazzite, I didn’t like it, I found it too limiting but I do see the appeal of it.

  • What helped me when I was a kid were games like Quake 3 Arena, Worms, and Mechwarrior 2, 3, and 4.

Q3A was because of the speed. you had to be fast with the mouse if you hoped to compete. Add to the fact that the bots in Q3A, at the time anyways, were quite good. you can play it offline with bots or even over a local LAN.

Again going back to a LAN staple but Worms is also good. you need precision with the mouse on that one. lots of geometry at play.

Finally the Mechwarrior games which really emphasize the mouse and keyboard combination. Torso Twisting and Flicking, positioning of your legs in regards to your torso, etc. really helps with mouse coordination.

  • I play EVE Online soooooo this happens daily? multiple times a day?

The political dramas in that game could put actual real world political drama to shame. I mean take what’s currently happening in game right now. A massive alliance named Pandemic Horde decided to evacuate the space they held. fair enough, the issue? Leadership made the announcement they were leaving said space and then…leadership quit. in the same message. Thus all the regular members, literally hundreds of them if not well over 1000, were left on their own in hostile space with all their assets stuck in stations that were now actively being shot at and destroyed by opposing alliances. The players are essentially stuck because all the upper leadership of Pandemic Horde have the massive capital ships that they could have used to save their members by getting them out of system or aiding in destroying the attackers but they said nope, we’re not going to do that. It’s a cluster fuck.

  • it really is fantastic out of the box. When I switched to NixOS I had decided to stay on zsh/ohmyzsh and it was an absolute slog. it was so slow and didn’t mesh well with the zsh plugins. Someone suggested I try Fish instead as it pretty much could do what Zsh does with plugins but right out of the box. Fish was much faster and indeed could do everything that I had configured zsh to do but I didn’t have to configure Fish at all. It’s great, I’ll never use another shell.
