I wouldn’t willingly go swim with jellyfish for whatever reason. Got sting as a teenager and the burn marks stayed printed onto my skin for well over a year.

I am thinking of implementing a dead-man switch of sorts, to release the password manager to my relatives and access to the NAS with all photos and stuff (and also nuke the homework folder).
You won’t believe how to spell vacuum cleaner in German !

Videos@lemmy.world•Back in 1993 Amtrak ran trial runs with European high-speed trains, Sweden's X2000 and Germany's ICE, here is a well made documentary about the event.
11·3 days agoMy experience with ICE isn’t great. It has reliability issues, I got stuck several times because of technical issues, it happened to me 3 or 4 times they had to literally reboot the train 🤣. Also, the comfort is not great, I have a soar butt after 1 hour sitting there. The French TGV is much better, or at least I have experienced a much lower failure rate (with the train itself, don’t get me started on SNCF…)
It is a really video. It’s like, a surprising detailed review.

No airbag is probably better than Takata surprise claymore to the face.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Are you even old enough to remember number 1?English
1·13 days agoI used it for 9 years. When I finally changed it, everyone was already using smartphones for a while. I could navigate the menu and text entirely by touch, which was practical during classes :)

Renault of that era are complet garbage, but still sold a tonne. This badly damaged their reputation and they took a long time to recover.
Learned to drive on this bad boy:

Then my first car was this beauty:

It has hydrologic suspensions, it’s cool AF. Got it 10yo and 230000km and drove it until it died into a cloud of smoke 😢 RIP
Kernel panic Ohoh! Botched it ! I botched it.
Interesting documentary about the “lofi girl” including interview of the artist who created the visuals (in French): Lofi girl : votre compagne de télétravail, star de YouTube - Le Dessous des images - ARTE | YouTube.com
This is actually in Lyon (France). The creator of the artwork was living there and use the view out his window as inspiration. I will look for the interview and link it.
Something like that happened to me. A neighbor had the alarm running out of battery so it was beeping every 3 minutes or so. From my apartment this was a very faint noise but it really drove me crazy, my SO couldn’t even hear it. Lasted for at least a month, this guy was not at home. Until the firefighters showed up and forced his door and shut the alarm down.

I count myself lucky to be sitting in public transports instead of traffic. You take a win where ever you can…
