A 30-year-old Kansas man who killed in wife on Halloween in 2019 reportedly used some of the payout from two life insurance policies to buy a sex doll.

After his wife’s death and prior to his arrest, CBS reports Colby collected two life insurance payouts totaling $120,000 and two days later used roughly $2,000 of it to buy a life-size sex doll.

Assistant Ellis County Attorney Aaron Cunningham told the network that Colby spent all the money in about eight months. Other spending includes video games, music equipment and paying off debt.

I hope that coroner gets told to have a re-think about this policy : “well, I have to take the husband’s statement at word value”

If I was a life insurance company I’d immediately be adding a “we won’t pay out in Kansas” clause.

      https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kristen-trickle-colby-trickle-kansas-psychological-autopsy-criminal-case-to-determine-mindset-of-fatal-shooting-victim-48-hours/

That day, as investigators got a search warrant for Colby Trickle’s cellphone, an autopsy for Kristen Trickle was underway. At the scene, Coroner Noordhoek, who suspected suicide, had looked for any evidence that someone else was involved — like signs of a struggle.

Erin Moriarty: Were there any signs of defensive wounds or any signs that she had fought with anyone before she died.

      Lyle Noordhoek: No.

Noordhoek says he also examined Kristen Trickle’s body for signs of past physical abuse.

Lyle Noordhoek: Typically … there’s … a series of progressive injuries over a period of time, so you can tell that they’ve been beating on each other. In this case, I wasn’t really seeing that. … So, I’m going, well, I have to take the husband’s statement at word value that he was there and the gun went off, and she is dead.

I couldn’t find that quote in the OP article but found it in another. Wow. He needs to be fired.

Yeah thanks for posting the link, that’s where I saw it but I closed the page before copying the link.

At that point it (the CBS transcript) suggests like the guy was also the investigators prime suspect - so kudos to them for continuing the investigation despite the coroners verdict.

At least a couple of police doing their job properly.
