Title says it all I actually browsed reddit for the first time in months and their news is still better then ours and it kind of pissed me off.
Apparently some 4chan bots posting and cross posting some trash site to one kbin community. Apparently the best thing some people can find to do with their time is being a nuisance.
And even worse, no one is cleaning the down and banning those bots…
It should be remembered that moderating is a thankless job done by volunteers. Please cut them some slack, they’ve got lives.
This seems to be an issue here. So many communities but many ofbthem where created by users with no intent if actually managing them. Some of the communities I’m seeing have been built by users who are no longer active.
I can’t say if the kbin.random community is the same. But if we have communities running in pure anarchy then this is an issue which may get much worse.
Yeah, I just went through and blocked all the accounts. They were all made yesterday and only posted in that one community, but lots of times each.
People need hobbies y’know. Some of us like to play the saxamaphone. Some of us like to ruin the internet. Some of us shitpost. Tomato tomato.
I wish they’d find something less annoying, like maybe sending anthrax to random people.
I think they’ve already anthraxed everyone who would give them their address and they aren’t smart enough to figure out how street signs and the numbers on houses work. But far be it upon me to impugn anyone’s intelligence.
we should all just defederate from kbin at this point… mostly trash anyway
Naw I like kbin users input they tend to be the design focused artsy lot.
How about no
I had to block the whole !random@kbin.social community because it was so out of hand. I was blocking the users and reporting the posts, but there were just too many. I can always unblock the community later after the mods clean things up.
Not sure what kinds of tools Lemmy mods have to prevent this sort of thing because it seems really obnoxious for users of all federated instances and also for the mods themselves to keep up with it
Seems to be an area that needs developer attention, but probably lower priority than the DB and stability issues they’ve been addressing.

Nice! Are the user bases similar? Lemmy didn’t until the Reddit surge.
Yeah I’m not smart enough to do that at 4 am 😅 thanks for showing me that though.
