I understand that “half caf” is supposed to be one-eye-asleep and one-eye-awake, but to me he instead gives the impression of being in that intensely pissed-off zone where he wants to drink coffee and is gagging for a full strength cup, but he’s been having heart palpitations recently and his doctor advised him to cut back and he promised his wife that he would but it’s Monday and there’s so much fucking work to get done but there’s this stupid two hour meeting and don’t even fucking dare talking to me about your bullshit Karen or I’m going to fucking snap I swear to God
Eventually half caf owl evolves into Irish coffee owl. Evens out the heart palpitations and suppresses Karen-related rage and existential grief. But alas, this kills the owl.

Ironically, decaf drinkers are the actual coffee purists since they do it for the taste
I did decaf for a while, because I pavlov’d myself into associating coffee as wake up juice. It worked for about a month before I started crashing during work
Except decaffeinating coffee really messes it up.
There are a few brands that make it right. Also it needs to be grinded at the moment
That’s as dumb as saying beer or wine purists only drink the non alcoholic kinds.
This is awesome! I would be the decaf person because I really like espresso for the taste, but I’ve never gotten any “wake up” feeling from it, even after making several consecutive cups! I’ve heard that beans processed for decaf aren’t as good, so I haven’t tried it yet. I have heard some roasters are starting to put more care into decaf roasts tho :P
