Good pun, but i can’t help myself:

    https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/اسلام_آباد#Urdu

اسلام اباد in urdu, literally translates to “Islamic area”

The اسلام (Isla:m) part comes from… the arabic word, duh lol

The اباد (a:ba:d) part comes from the PIE root *peh₂-, descending from middle/classical persian and then urdu.

The root just means “to protect, ward or shepherd” which leaves a lot of room for interpretation. The persian words mean thriving/populous (so does urdu).

There are also many derived (and recognized) words from it: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Reconstruction:Proto-Indo-European/peh₂-#Derived_terms Is pretty interesting to look at.

Do note it’s not like i really know too much of what i’m talking about, i just love this stuff.

We talked about your languages and where you’re from. I remember stuff sometimes.

Thanks for asking- it’s healing! Only a few more days before I can get the stitches out!

Eta after the fact; should make the couple of stupid long comments I’ve made look even more unhinged, given the hand injury.

That’s really cool, thank you for sharing, especially the derived words from proto-indo-european, very interesting!
