Russian forces took an underage girl hostage to use her as a human shield after murdering her parents in a front-line village in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian 3rd Army Corps reported on Sept. 24.

The civilians were killed in the area of responsibility of the 3rd Army Corps, in the village of Shandryholove in Donetsk Oblast.

Ukrainian authorities have documented a number of cases of Russian troops murdering civilians in front-line areas since the outbreak of the full-scale war in 2022, part of a wider pattern of abuse and repression.

“Russia is using (the captured girl) as a human shield for its unit advancing in the Lyman sector,” the military unit said.

This sounds like the kind of hyperbolic reporting you hear in war about the opposing side. I really hope this isn’t true.

Exactly, this strikes me as an example of “The Iraqi guard were breaking into neonatal intensive care units and killing the babies” kind of thing.

Its only a phobia if its irrational. Being afraid of russian aggression is very rational.

Ignoring and defending it is the irratoonal position.

WOW, what a comment dripping with fearmongering Ukraine phobia

You do understand that Russia is the agressor who invades a peaceful neighbor and is now committing genocide?

      Tankie much?

The propaganda machine goes brr on both sides. However, the side you’re advocating for decided that the only way to resolve a diplomatic issue is to invade a country and murder its citizens. No matter how you spin it, it is still the case that the powerful are throwing away human lives for their own benefit. Isn’t .ml supposed to side with the people usually, and not the rich people controlling the world currently?

One problem at a time. First kick out invaders, then kick nazis.

It’s not like Ukraine has a monopoly on nazi infestation.

That’s a meme and not a valid source for information.

Do you have actual sources proving the ruling party of Ukraine has nazis in its leadership? I can easily prove there are racist fascists ruling Russia right now.

Regardless there is no moral high ground to Russian imperialist invaders who themselves are no better than Nazis

look man, yes - there are fascists in ukraine (but not too many and they can’t dictate shit) yes - ukraine has a weird relationship with it’s past yes - nato basically expanded to russia’s borders yes - a newspaper called kyivindependent will try to paint russians as monsters (despite the fact this particular case factually happened)

BUT this war doesn’t benefit the workers of either countries. this war caused the death of about 1 million people, be it young conscripted russian men, ukrainian men, civilians on either side etc. it doesn’t matter. it’s 1000000 lives lost and for what? no sane person will say the “denazification” is a valid reason, same as the “fight for the native russians stuck in ukraine” and less so the “fight against the fascist regime” the invader is a country led by slimy opportunists who privatized everything after the fall of the soviet union. and the invaded are basically the same but cozied up with “le evil west”

i’d be willing to understand your viewpoint if you sent me theory that supports your view. because i haven’t yet read any that compelled me to dehumanize a group of people or a country and support either side of a war with clear economic interest.
